Economy in the district of Ebersberg: labor market cools down – Ebersberg

There are a little fewer people looking for work in the district than a month ago. However, the proportion of those who are entitled to unemployment benefits has increased. Specifically, at the end of January 3056 people from the Ebersberg district were registered as jobseekers, which is 16 fewer than at the end of December. On the other hand, 1,790 Ebersbergers are currently unemployed, 219 more than a month ago. The unemployment rate has risen from 1.9 percent at the end of December to 2.2 percent now.

Which, according to Nikolaus Windisch, head of the Freising Employment Agency, which is also responsible for Ebersberg, is “typical for the season” and “within the usual framework for the season”. During the cold season, companies in sectors that are dependent on the weather often see themselves forced to severely restrict their operations and in some cases even lay off staff. This is also shown by the fact that winter unemployment is mainly at the expense of men. In Dachau, Ebersberg, Erding and Freising, 25.4 percent more men are currently registered as unemployed than a month ago, while the increase for women is only 8.3 percent.

The value is almost back to the pre-crisis level

Overall, the district of Ebersberg is in the best position compared to its neighbors: in Erding the rate is 2.3 percent, in Dachau 2.5 and in Freising 2.6 percent. Overall, an average of 2.4 percent is calculated in the four districts. This means that the value is roughly at the level before the outbreak of the corona pandemic, in January 2020 it was 2.3 percent and a year later it was 3.1 percent. In the Ebersberg district, the rate was 2.1 percent in January before the pandemic and 2.9 percent a year ago.

Meanwhile, the demand for personnel remains high, in all four districts together the agency is currently notified of 5,384 job offers, 1,790 more than at the beginning of the year. There are 1,473 vacancies in Ebersberg, a month ago there were 377 fewer. Regionally, most jobs – 1235 – are in the manufacturing industry, closely followed by the transport, logistics, protection and security sector with 1212 vacancies. In January, there was a demand for 954 positions in commercial services, trade, sales and tourism.
