Economy – Greece on course – Economy

The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sees his country on track to generate a primary surplus in 2023. The economy has proven to be robust in the corona pandemic, said the head of government. Public finances are sustainable. A primary surplus enables the payment of interest and amortization on the debt taken out. The tourism sector is doing well, added Mitsotakis. Initial calculations indicated that the euro country would exceed its budget target. The Greek economy made further progress in recovering from the Corona crisis in the spring. The gross domestic product increased from April to June by 3.4 percent compared to the previous quarter. The EU Commission in Brussels believes that Greece will achieve economic growth of 4.3 percent this year, after a drop of 8.2 percent in 2020.
