Economics: Retirement at 68, more migration and career incentives for women – Economy

The German economy is shrinking this year and will barely grow next, economists warn. They demand lower pension increases, more migration and better career incentives for women.

Four years, almost no growth and therefore no additional income: citizens are experiencing difficult times, as the Council of Economic Experts makes that very clear in its 450-page annual report. Economic output remains almost at the level of 2020, the year when Corona broke out. The pandemic was followed by inflation and energy shortages. The Council notes that the Federal Republic is only slowly emerging from these multiple crises: the economy will shrink by 0.4 percent this year and will grow by just 0.7 percent next.
