Economic situation in Germany: Habeck sees a glimmer of hope – economy

The government is correcting its economic forecast from 0.2 to 0.3 percent growth. It’s not much – but it’s enough to put you in a better mood. And it leaves enough room for improvement.

Being deep in the basement can also have its advantages. In any case, things go uphill more often than downhill in the cellar, and now this also applies to Germany. In February, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) complained about the “dramatically bad” situation of the German economy. The annual economic report only predicted growth of 0.2 percent for the current year. Compared to the expectations from the previous annual economic report, it was as if Germany had fallen down the basement stairs – because the federal government had still expected 1.8 percent growth for 2024. And now: slight signals of relaxation.
