In Eberswalde, a boy was sexually abused in a mobile toilet cubicle on Sunday. Despite immediately initiated searches, the perpetrator has not yet been caught.

When an eight-year-old boy used a public toilet on Sunday afternoon Eberswalde in Brandenburg wanted to use it, he was said to have been sexually abused by an unknown person. The boy is said to have visited a mobile toilet cubicle on Breite Straße around 2.40 p.m. and knocked on the door because it was obviously occupied. An unknown person then opened the door and pulled the boy into the cabin, according to the responsible East Police Department.

According to the boy’s statement, the man wanted him in the genital area, whereupon he shouted loudly for help. A friend of the child, who was waiting outside the door, heard the cries for help and contacted witnesses. They called the police. After the boy managed to free himself from the toilet, a man followed him and threw the child’s scooter into a nearby canal and disappeared.

Despite an immediate search, the suspected perpetrator has not yet been caught. The police are now investigating sexual abuse of minors in connection with deprivation of liberty. “The police deal very carefully with children who are affected by a possible crime. This means that the criminal investigators have to establish a basis of trust and the interviews then have to be carried out in a child-friendly manner,” the Märkische online newspaper quoted a police spokesman as saying.
