Ebersberg: SPD calls for a special session on the northern feeder of the Brenner – Ebersberg

After the Greens had already spoken out about the planned train route through the southern district of Ebersberg this week, the SPD is now also getting involved in the debate. In an open letter, the Social Democrats are calling for a special meeting on the northern access to the Brenner Pass, in which representatives of Deutsche Bahn, local citizens’ initiatives, the communities affected and members of the district council should take part.

“When selecting the routes and optimizing them, it is imperative to find the best possible solution for people and nature,” is the reasoning. There are currently still various uncertainties and open questions between planners and those affected, which would complicate the process of expanding the Brenner access route in the Ebersberg district.

According to the SPD, this includes questions about the actual future number of trains, measures for optimal noise protection, and a joint dialogue regarding the use and expansion of the existing route. In order to also include the possible effects of a wide-ranging solution for managing freight traffic – the so-called east corridor – in the overall considerations, it is also important to involve the mayors of the northern district.
