Easter holidays in the district of Munich: tips for trips with children – district of Munich

Happiness is usually very close. It doesn’t always have to be a long-distance journey to create something like a holiday mood. The district of Munich is also quite bearable. So if you still want to experience something with the children, family or friends in the second week of the Easter holidays, you can stay here with confidence. The SZ gives a few tips – without claiming to be complete.

The view into space

For centuries people have turned their eyes to the heavens and wondered what lies beyond the starlight. Today scientists can already answer some questions about the starry sky and the universe. In the planetarium of the European Southern Observatory ESO at its location on the Garching research campus, the researchers take small and large hobby astronomers from the age of five into space, for example on a journey beyond the sun or an exploration tour through the planetary system. The permanent exhibition in the visitor center explores the question of life in the universe and makes the exciting work of the scientists tangible on around 2200 square meters of exhibition space. Admission to a planetarium show costs five euros per person, and a ticket for a guided tour of the exhibition costs eight euros. More information at supernova.eso.org.

Forest experience

Fresh forest air, animals and a few sensory experiences – that’s what children and parents can expect when they visit the Grünwald forest adventure center in Sauschütt. A highlight at the moment is probably the feeding of the wild boar, which young and old can watch every day at 4 p.m. at the wild boar barn. Because not only the adult animals are fed there with food such as bread, salad and fruit by the employees of the forest experience center. “We also have 13 newbies at the moment,” says forester Xenia Münke, deputy head of the center. After or before visiting the feeding station, the adventure trail, a tour through the Grünwald forest, is a good idea. It is best to start at the front of the photo wall. Depending on your speed, you can cover the 2.8-kilometer route in about 1.5 hours, as Münke says. There is a lot to learn at twelve stations, not all of which are open yet. On the barefoot path you can explore different materials such as stones and wood chips with your feet. At the station “Becoming and Passing” you can look at a hole in the ground and see how humus forms. Admission is free, the forest is always accessible.

On a slope

“Climbing without fear and reproach” for all age groups, that’s what they say in the Boulderwelt München-Süd in Brunnthaler Industriegebiet-Nord. Here you can spend eventful holidays even in bad weather. Opened in 2020, the 2,500 square meter bouldering hall resembles a sci-fi space arena with overhanging artificial rocks topped with many colorful holds. It is important to shimmy along these “rocks” without a climbing rope or climbing harness. If you lose your footing, just jump off, the ground isn’t far away. There are courses with different degrees of difficulty. In the “mixed area” for the whole family there are boulders with smaller grip distances and trains for children from the age of six. In the “Children’s World” next door, there is a crawling tunnel and a slide. Comfortable sportswear is required for bouldering, climbing shoes from size 26 can be hired and are included in the entrance fee. All information below www.boulderwelt-muenchen-sued.de.

In the animal world

A visit to the Blindham mountain animal park near Aying is always eventful. Here you will find native wild animals and endangered breeds of domestic animals as well as a large children’s playground. When the weather is bad, the Spielstadt, an indoor play area in the old farm, is a great attraction. Meter-long suspension bridges, swings, wobbly bridges, a flying gondola and huge slides run through the former barn; Stairs, ramps and corridors lead over three floors to under the roof gable, from where you have a view over the zoo to the Alps. On the ground floor, small children will find a large world of castles, a giant sandbox and many push cars, while parents can relax on loungers. In the mountain animal park itself, with a little luck, red and fallow deer dare to come out of their hiding place and you can see wild boars and moufflons as well as young rabbits and sheep. experience summer

The regular season in the Aschheim water ski park doesn’t actually start until May, and the off-season tickets for April are already sold out. But a visit to the park is still worthwhile, because here you can already feel something of the coming summer. And there is something about watching the daring water sports enthusiasts doing their spectacular stunts with the wakeboards. And the lake terrace with the gastro is already open. Anyone who wants to book tickets for the water ski park from May can do so on the website (www.wasserskipark-aschheim.de).
