From the depths of the ocean to the forests of India: nature in all its diversity is fascinating. Two new documentaries prove this.

The gaze does not have to fall on alien planets or distant galaxies to push the human imagination to its limits. Mother Earth can also do this with ease with her incredibly diverse flora and fauna – which must be protected at all costs. Just in time for Earth Day, which has been celebrated on April 22nd for 54 years now, two new ones are starting on National Geographic Wild on TV and on Disney+ Documentaries that focus on two wonders of nature with impressive footage. Mister “Titanic” James Cameron (69) had an Oscar-winning hand in one of them.

“The mysterious world of octopuses”

The description of an octopus actually defies any sense of reality: an invertebrate creature with three hearts that can apparently change shape and color at will, can regrow severed limbs and is also extremely clever? That sounds like an eerie encounter of the third kind in a sci-fi movie, not a mundane sea creature.

After “The Mysterious World of Whales” and “The Mysterious World of Elephants,” Disney and National Geographic are now inviting you to “The Mysterious World of Octopuses,” the new documentary in the Emmy-winning series. As with the two previous documentaries, star director and ocean conservationist James Cameron is once again responsible as producer. The actresses Sigourney Weaver (74) and Natalie Portman (42) took on the role of narrators for the whales and elephants in the original English soundtrack, while “Ant-Man” Paul Rudd (55) has now been hired to play the octopuses.

“The Mysterious World of Octopuses” can either be streamed on Disney+ or can be seen on TV on Monday and Tuesday (April 22nd and 23rd) from 8:15 p.m. on National Geographic Wild.

“Tiger”

Also on Earth Day, the new documentary “Tiger” celebrates its exclusive premiere on Disney+. Instead of taking you into the depths of the ocean, it follows a young tigress who has to protect her cubs from all kinds of dangers in the picturesque forests of India. The Disneynature documentary also features well-known star power in the original English soundtrack – Priyanka Chopra Jonas (41) tells of the impressive adventures of tigress Ambar, captured on film.

If “Tiger” isn’t enough for you, you can also watch the accompanying film “Tiger on the Advance” from April 22nd.

Even more pure nature

However, the two documentaries are only part of a larger campaign that Disney and National Geographic are committed to. Under the banner “Our Home” we want to further contribute and encourage the protection, restoration and appreciation of the environment.

The campaign includes, among other things, over 30 formats that will be broadcast on TV in one go on April 22nd from 5:00 a.m. on National Geographic Wild. Meanwhile, the “Our Home” collection on the Disney+ streaming service includes documentaries with a variety of nature-related themes.
