Surprisingly, the Federal Ministry of Economics reported last Saturday that the environmental bonus for electric car buyers will end on Sunday night (at the end of December 17, 2023). This means that a billion-dollar subsidy program that was supposed to take pure battery vehicles out of the market niche and make them the dominant drive technology is history. Battery cars have overtaken diesel cars in terms of popularity among buyers in Germany. However, pure electric vehicles never exceeded a market share of almost 20 percent of new cars.
