DW launches radio broadcasts for Afghanistan media

The German international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) has added two new daily radio programs in the languages Dari and Pashto for listeners in Afghanistan. “In Afghanistan, media diversity and free access to independent information are acutely threatened,” said DW director Peter Limbourg on Monday in Bonn. DW has an experienced and knowledgeable editorial team for the region, which, in addition to online and social media offers, will contribute to better information for local people with two half-hourly shortwave radio broadcasts every day. The program director for Asia, Debarati Guha, emphasized: “The thematic priorities of our program will be dialogue and peace, civil society and of course gender and human rights issues.” DW will not let the people down there and will continue to provide them with balanced information.
