Dunja Hayali returns to “heute journal”.

From 2007 to 2010 she was in front of the camera for the “heute-journal”. 13 years after she left, Dunja Hayali will now strengthen the team of moderators again.

On September 21, 2010, Dunja Hayali appeared for the last time as co-moderator in “heute journal”. Now, more than twelve years later, the 48-year-old is returning to the news magazine, as ZDF announced on Friday.

“I look forward to it”

Accordingly, Dunja Hayali will be part of the “heute journal” team as a moderator from mid-February. “I’m looking forward to returning to where everything started for me on ZDF and to complement the team around Marietta, Christian and Anne,” Dunja Hayali is quoted as saying.

The journalist will conduct the show around 40 times a year, for the first time on February 20. However, viewers in the “heute journal” will continue to see the main moderators Marietta Slomka and Christian Sievers the most, and ZDF news boss Anne Gellinek will also greet the audience several times a year.

“The best minds should present our flagship”

“The best minds should present and profile our flagship – each with their own character, but all with the highest journalistic experience, competence and independence,” ZDF editor-in-chief Bettina Schausten told the “Tagesspiegel”.

But what does this mean for Dunja Hayali’s other shows? The 48-year-old remains true to them. So she will continue to moderate the “Morgenmagazin”, according to the press release. She can be seen there again from February 6th.

Since August 2018 she has also been part of the moderator team of “the current sports studio”. She will next moderate the sports show on February 4th. Her talk show “dunja hayali” was already discontinued in 2021.
