As the tax return of the charity “Archewell” shows, the royals have spent more than they have earned.

Prince Harry, 37, and Duchess Meghan, 40, spent more money with their charities in 2020 than they made in. That reports the “Daily Mail” and refers to the foundation’s tax return.

Accordingly, the US charity “Archewell” announced the Sussexes in December that they had raised less than 50,000 US dollars in 2020. Documents from UK charity MWX show that more than $ 55,000 was spent on legal fees between June 2020 and June 2021. The Royals would have made a total loss.

Expensive Fun: From Sussex Royal to MWX to Archewell

After moving to California, the couple decided to liquidate the UK charity MWX, formerly Sussex Royal, and set up a new US nonprofit, Archewell. This move cost at least $ 55,600, according to the tax return.

At least Meghan and Harry should not have been particularly surprised by this news about the loss: Sources close to the royals told the “Telegraph” last year that the official “Archewell” projects would be postponed because the couple was initially focused on the pandemic and focus on the Black Lives Matter movement.

A lot of criticism for the charity organizations of the royals

Harry and Meghan’s charities have been a source of controversy since they were founded. The regulatory authority Charity Commission had accused Meghan and Harry, for example, of wasting possible donations by setting up a new organization and then disbanding it again.

In addition, Meghan and Harry were criticized because they had decided to create “Archewell” in Delaware of all places – a so-called tax haven in the USA and known for its many mailbox companies.
