Has Duchess Kate (40) shown her support for Ukraine? According to British media reports, the outfit she presented on March 14 for the Commonwealth Day service at London’s Westminster Abbey could have been more than a fashion statement. The 40-year-old appeared in a blue ensemble, one of the colors in the national flag of Ukraine.
The bespoke coat dress worn by the Duchess of Cambridge is by Catherine Walker. Kate got the matching hat from Lock & Co., the blue shoes from Rupert Sanderson. The Duchess also combined her look in blue with a sapphire jewelry set that is said to have once belonged to Princess Diana (1961-1997). She also wore the necklace and earrings when she and her husband Prince William, 39, welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 44, and his wife Olena, 44, to Buckingham Palace in October 2020. as reported, among other things, by the “Daily Mail”.
The Queen was absent
In addition to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the heir to the throne Prince Charles (73) and his wife Duchess Camilla (74) as well as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson (57) were present at the Commonwealth Day service. Queen Elizabeth II (95) was not there. The palace had announced days earlier that she would not appear for the service. However, the royal house emphasized that the Queen will be carrying out other planned engagements this week.
The Queen, who lives at Windsor Castle, was recently infected with the corona virus. The court confirmed on February 20 that she was suffering from “slight, cold-like symptoms”. In her first personal audience after her illness, she received Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (50) at Windsor Castle.
