How to remove sweat and bad odors with an electric shoe dryer

Damp shoes are an annoying problem in many ways: While every rain shower attacks the material from the outside and – depending on the weather resistance – causes a wet footbed, unpleasant (sweat) odors spread inside.
A tried and tested method of removing the moisture from wet hiking shoes or boots is drying them on the heater – or stuffing them with newspaper. However, this procedure has two small snags: On the one hand, it takes a lot of time until the inner and outer material is completely dry. On the other hand, bad smells spread during this time. Special shoe dryers, some of which even work with UV rays, are said to be faster and more effective against the smell of sweat. And that’s not the only advantage. In the following we present four different models in more detail.

1. Snowpea shoe dryer
According to the manufacturer it is Snowpea device able to dry shoes of any type quickly and precisely at a constant 56 degrees Celsius – without overheating (thanks to a fire-retardant shell). In addition, bad smells should be removed. Depending on the degree of moisture and materials, it is possible to set a timer so that the dryer function is automatically switched off after three, six or ten hours at the latest.
2. Dedom shoe dryer

Three (buying) tips for electric shoe dryers
- When buying, make sure you have an integrated timer so that the shoe dryer turns itself off after a certain amount of time – this primarily saves electricity costs.
- Most shoe dryers rely on a power source to keep them running. But there are also mobile models with an integrated battery that are ideal for on the go.
- A shoe dryer can also be used to warm your shoes in winter before you put them on and leave the house. Incidentally, the same applies to gloves.
