A 13-year-old died after taking a high-dose ecstasy pill, now the Fusion techno festival is taking place in the same district with up to 70,000 guests. A dealer is caught on the very first day.

The district court in Waren has issued an arrest warrant for a suspected dealer whom private security forces had previously been involved with at the Fusion Festival caught drugs. “The man from Berlin had a whole potpourri of drugs with him: several hundred ecstasy pills, including 60 “Blue Punisher” pills, more than 180 LSD trips, other narcotics in no small amount and sachets with a crystalline substance that still has to be analyzed,” said the police in Neubrandenburg.

The festival confirmed the process on request. The 29-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday. The arrest warrant was issued at the request of the Neubrandenburg public prosecutor’s office. In addition to the pills, the man also had 10,000 euros with him in denominations typical of the scene. The festival turned on the police after the drugs were found on Wednesday.

The police thanked the previously unknown whistleblower. The investigators ask the person to contact the local police in Röbel. After a 13-year-old from Altentreptow recently died after consuming the highly concentrated ecstasy pill “Blue Punisher”, the authorities are on increased alert.

Drug counseling at festival

After the death, the organizers of the music festival are also making their visitors aware of the dangers of the ecstasy drug “Blue Punisher” with notices and warning photos. “We also hope that our guests have been warned about the high-dose pills by the media coverage,” said a festival spokesman.

The techno and culture festival in Lärz (Mecklenburg Lake District) started on Wednesday; up to 70,000 mostly younger guests are expected by Sunday.

The festival spokesman also said that the eclipse drug advice center will provide further pill warnings and analysis results at a central location at the festival. Fusion has been working with the association for accepting drug work and psychedelic crisis intervention eclipse for 20 years.

The spokesman also pointed out that the festival has had a support team for a long time. “Our medical team consists of 400 people, including 60 doctors, 180 medical students, a 60-strong psychological team and nurses.”

Education and information are important. But Fusion isn’t just doing that this year. It is politically important that drugs can be tested legally, as is already being done in pilot projects in Berlin. Such tests could save lives, the spokesman said.

Fusion Doctor: Very well positioned medically

According to the Medical Director of the Fusion Festival, Gernot Rücker, the event is medically well prepared for the multi-day event with tens of thousands of visitors. There are also eight intensive care units for emergencies and a large medical team with a total of around 400 people, including doctors, psychologists, nurses and drug counselors. Drug use is ultimately a secondary aspect.

With regard to the “Blue Punisher” ecstasy pill, Rücker told the German Press Agency that the problem was primarily the high dosage. Actually, the drug is controllable in the right dosage. However, psychomodulators such as caffeine, nicotine or alcohol are always unsuitable and always harmful for the child’s brain. “It’s poison for the brain,” said the doctor. He pointed out that millions of ecstasy pills are in circulation every day in Germany. That has nothing to do with the festival.
