Drug test for executives at Axel-Springer – Medien

An editor-in-chief for the picture is now certain after some back and forth at Springer. Robert Schneider, still boss of Focus Johannes Boie as well as Alexandra Würzbach and Claus Strunz will join the tabloid’s editor-in-chief, Boie remains the so-called chairman of the editor-in-chief. But for Schneider, he now reports mirrorthere was apparently an unpleasant surprise when switching to Picture.

Robert Schneider must therefore do a drug test to get newer picture– to become a boss. When asked by SZ, a spokesman for Axel Springer Verlag confirmed that this was a new practice in the group. “Over the past few months, Axel Springer has expanded the process for filling special managerial positions. The hiring process now also includes drug screening, as is common in many international companies.” The spokesman does not answer the question of how long this rule has been in place and whether the current members of the editor-in-chief have had to undergo this procedure, but does point out that it is about new hires for selected management functions.

The one released in 2021 picture-Boss Julian Reichelt was accused of abuse of power and drug use at work. The allegation was examined as part of an internal investigation at Springer, but apparently no evidence was found. Reichelt gave an affidavit that the rumors were not true. Of the mirror now addresses the fact that since the news of Schneider’s appointment, “rumors about Schneider’s alleged drug consumption” have also been circulating in the group, and Schneider has had a lawyer tell him that such an allegation has no basis whatsoever.

picture shares: “Right now rumors are being used to discredit someone who is widely acknowledged to be a very good journalist on a character level. Someone who has family and children. And the only reason is, that much is clear that he is moving to BILD with a high level of responsibility.”
