Now also the US Senate, perhaps the last bastion of convention in the land of nonchalance. When Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer recently lifted the unofficial dress code in the chamber, it was like a dam bursting on Capitol Hill. From now on, the members of the venerable chamber are not just allowed to leave suits and costumes in the closet, they can wear whatever they want.
