Record winner Bayern Munich has to play in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup at FSV Mainz 05, defending champion RB Leipzig welcomes TSG Hoffenheim. This was the result of the draw on Sunday evening in Dortmund. In Frankfurt there is a Hesse derby between Eintracht and Darmstadt 98. Since 1. FC Nürnberg meets Fortuna Düsseldorf, at least one of the five remaining second division teams will move into the quarter-finals.
The round of 16 will be played from January 31st to February 8th, the quarterfinals on January 4th/5th. April. The semi-final is for the 2./3. scheduled for May. The final of the competition will take place on June 3rd in the Olympiastadion Berlin.
