In the main round, the Bundesliga club meets OGC Nice with coach Lucien Favre and former Bayern defender Dante, Partizan Belgrade and the Czech cup winners FC Slovacko. That was the result of the draw in Istanbul.

“Belgrade and Nice are of course well-known names. The mood will also be pretty good,” said coach Steffen Baumgart. “We know that there are difficult tasks ahead of us. We should approach the matter with the necessary respect and reverence .We want to have nice, peaceful games and be successful in the group stage.” Managing director Christian Keller explained: “We are happy that we can play internationally again. Almost everyone here didn’t care who they were against. Of course, they became attractive opponents.”

Having finished seventh in the previous season in the Bundesliga, Cologne prevailed in the playoffs against Fehérvár FC from Hungary. After a 1-2 draw at home, the Rhinelanders won 3-0 in Hungary on Thursday. The first group matchday takes place on September 8th, the last on November 3rd. The knockout rounds will continue from February. The final will take place on June 7, 2023 in Prague. The exact schedule of the game days should be made by Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
