Long before a reading was to begin in the city library in Bogenhausen on Tuesday afternoon, the police had marked out the terrain at Rosenkavalierplatz. With red and white warning tape and barriers, she demarcated the areas where supporters and opponents of the event would later gather. Nearly 200 uniformed and plainclothes police officers also positioned themselves to ensure the parties did not get too close.
