rosacea is noticeable on the skin. The chronic disease, which affects two to five percent of people in Germany, begins with redness of unknown origin, mostly in the middle of the face, in the area of ​​the forehead, nose or under the eyes, on the cheeks or on the chin. Affected people are usually irritated and take it for a stress or cold symptom – until the first pustules or nodules appear. The course of the disease can be divided into three stages that describe the severity of the disease and merge seamlessly into each other, provided that no effective therapeutic measures are initiated. Mostly women from the age of 30 are affected.

Dermatologists usually recognize rosacea by the external symptoms. In addition, a skin sample can be taken and examined under a microscope to rule out similar diseases. So far, it has not been considered completely curable, but can usually be brought under control with medication, the right care and a healthy diet. Above all, the experiences of modern medicine encourage:

“Holistic medicine suggests that the autoimmune disease rosacea and deficiencies in gut health and liver are linked,” says Doc Fleck. Therefore, an anti-inflammatory and intestinal-healthy diet is also recommended here: “Eat lots of fiber, lots of vegetables and salad! Preferably at noon and nothing in the evening, as it can make sleep worse, herbs (parsley, basil), spices, sufficient protein according to individual tolerance and healthy fats. Only use heat-stable fats such as ghee, coconut oil, olive oil with extra virgin for frying. Rapeseed oil contains few, but still 9% of mimosa-like omega-3 fats and should be reserved for cold dishes from the point of view of preventive medicine.”

The intake of vitamin B and bitter substances is also essential: “Bitter substances can be taken in the form of an alcohol-free spray between meals or in the form of vegetables such as leeks, rocket or dandelion – also as a tea. The spray bitter substances are now even available with added vitamin B12, which makes it easier to absorb the important vitamin in a playful way. In order to achieve a healing effect, bitter substances should be added at least twice a day.” Dandelion is particularly suitable for stronger detoxification and is not called “the ginseng of the west” for nothing.

The following foods should be avoided:

  • alcohol
  • hot and/or spicy foods
  • hot drinks

Certain cosmetics, too much stress, cold and also too much heat or sunlight can also be harmful.
