Double homicide of Carcassonne: A suspect indicted and placed in pre-trial detention

A man was arrested, indicted and placed in pre-trial detention this Saturday, November 6 in the case of the double homicide which took place last Sunday in the district of Grazailles where two young people were shot dead.

Since Friday, we knew that investigators from the Perpignan judicial police branch had arrested several people in the case of the double homicide in Carcassonne. Two young people from the Viguier district were shot dead, rue de Marignan in Grazailles, Billel Doussas (21 years old) and Anas El Madami (18 years old). This Saturday was shaping up to be decisive. Several police custody had been extended as part of the judicial investigation opened for acts of intentional homicide, attempted voluntary homicide and possession of illegal category A weapons, namely weapons of war. One of the suspects was brought before the examining magistrate and indicted on Saturday, November 6, said Narbonne prosecutor Eric Camous.

Two other additional charges have been added today, we still learned from the Narbonne Public Prosecutor’s Office: criminal concealment and destruction of evidence. The man was then presented to the judge of freedoms and detention who decided on his provisional imprisonment at the Perpignan remand center, in order to prevent any risk of fraudulent consultation with other suspects, of the disappearance of proof and that he is evading justice.

The Narbonne Public Prosecutor indicated that a press conference would take place this Monday, November 8 at the Narbonne court in order to provide explanations on the circumstances of this tragic news item. Thus, we still do not know anything about the motive of this double homicide. Neighborhood quarrel, romantic rivalry, drug trafficking, several theories were put forward by witnesses and relatives interviewed by investigators. Observers also indicated that many threats and invective had been exchanged on social networks for several weeks between the young people of Viguier, where the two victims are from, and those of Grazailles.

On the evening of the tragedy, Sunday, October 31, a first bullet was fired from the window of a house on rue de Marignan in the Grazailles district in Carcassonne, fatally affecting Billel Doussas, 21, who was leaning against a car. A second bullet was then fired from the street, hitting 18-year-old Anas El Madani, who was inside the vehicle. A modus operandi which indicated the presence of at least two distinct shooters which has still not been officially confirmed.

This Sunday at 1 p.m. takes place in Le Viguier, the district where the two young people are from, a white march from the social center.
