Family reunification of a different kind: The professional fire department reunited a mother with her one and a half year old child on Thursday afternoon after the apartment door slammed shut, leaving the mother outside and the child inside.
The mother had only briefly stepped outside the door with the older sibling when a gust of wind slammed it shut and the smaller child was left alone in the apartment – a circumstance that he didn’t like at all, which he also expressed loudly.
The woman called the fire department. She came and opened the unlocked door, as they said, “non-violently”: she used locking hooks until she managed to push open the unlocked door latch. Then the toddler was able to go back to his mother and the crying stopped.
