Trump warns of “bloodbath for the country” if he loses the election

Donald Trump used drastic choice of words to warn his supporters of his own defeat at a campaign event. As is often the case with Trump, it wasn’t entirely clear what he meant.
Trump said at a rally in Ohio, referring to China’s alleged plans to build cars in Mexico and then sell them in the United States: “You won’t be able to sell these cars if I’m elected.” Then he added: “If I don’t get elected, there will be a bloodbath overall, that will be the least, it will be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least. But they won’t sell these cars.”
Later in the speech, he described the upcoming presidential election on November 5 as the “most important date” in US history. “The date – remember, November 5th – I believe will be the most important date in the history of our country,” Trump said.
In a statement, US President Joe Biden’s campaign team then called the Republican the “loser” of the 2020 election who was again threatening “political violence.” “He wants another January 6th, but the American people will hand him another election defeat this November because they continue to reject his extremism, his propensity for violence and his thirst for revenge,” it said, referring to the storming of the Capitol from January 6, 2021.
At a gala event in Washington, Biden later warned of an “unprecedented moment in history.” Freedom is under attack, Biden said at the Gridiron Club dinner. “The lies about the 2020 election, the plot to overthrow it and the support for the January 6th insurrection represent the greatest threat to our democracy since the American Civil War,” the president said.
Biden counters Trump with humor
In Ohio, Trump also repeated his accusation that his rival Biden was the “worst” president in US history. He countered with humor at an event in Washington. About the presidential race, he said: “One candidate is too old and mentally unfit to be president. The other is me.”
In February, for example, Biden confused Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi with the Mexican head of state. Special counsel Robert Hur, who looked into allegations against Biden over embezzled secret documents from his time as vice president, described the Democratic presidential candidate as a well-meaning, older gentleman with a poor memory. Trump, whose nomination as the Republican presidential candidate is almost certain, has also repeatedly attracted attention for mix-ups and crude claims.
The Republican Trump and the Democrat Biden have now secured the necessary delegate votes in their parties’ primaries to be sent back into the race in the presidential election on November 5th. This will be a repeat of the 2020 duel, from which Biden emerged as the winner. It is already clear that the election campaign will be one of the toughest in US history.
