Donald Trump announces indictment in White House Archives case

Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he has been charged in the White House archives case, where he is accused of having taken entire boxes of documents, some of them confidential, when he left the presidency.

On his “TruthSocial” network, former US President Donald Trump announces that he has been charged in the case of the White House archives found in his Florida residence in Mar-a-Lago. In several messages published this Thursday evening, Donald Trump claims to be “innocent”.

“The corrupt Biden administration has informed my lawyers that I have been charged, presumably in the false case of the boxes”, denounces the former tenant of the White House, evoking “a dark day” for the United States.

In court Tuesday afternoon

Donald Trump also announces that he is summoned to federal court in Miami on Tuesday afternoon (9:00 p.m. Paris time) to be officially charged.

On Wednesday, federal prosecutors had informed the lawyers of the Republican billionaire, again in the race for the White House, that he was personally targeted in the investigation into this affair.

He is accused of having kept entire boxes of documents, including some classified as “secret defense”, after his departure from Washington in 2021 and of having refused to return them, in violation of federal laws.

Donald Trump, who for the moment is well ahead of the other candidates for the Republican nomination, has always defended himself from any embezzlement and presents himself as the victim of “political persecution”, recalls AFP.

In April, a New York State court indicted him for falsification of accounting documents related to the payment of $ 130,000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election, in exchange for his silence on a supposed connection.

Donald Trump, a few months before the start of the American presidential campaign, is therefore charged in two separate cases. A first for a former President of the United States.
