Dominik Krause – Munich’s new deputy mayor – Munich

Dominik Krause, the new second mayor of the state capital from the Greens, immediately attacks the foreign minister of his own party.

Dominik Krause usually never buttons his shirts completely; the collar always remains open. From the fact that he came into the large meeting room of the town hall last Wednesday with a tie on, it was clear that a special occasion was about to take place for him: On that day, Krause, until then the parliamentary group leader of the Greens in the Munich city council, was elected new second mayor elected. What was also significant was that he is Munich’s first openly gay mayor and, at 33, the youngest the city has had at least since the Second World War. The famous Hans-Jochen Vogel from the SPD was 34 when he was elected mayor in 1960.
