Domenico Tedesco: Ex-Bundesliga coach becomes Belgian national coach – sport

Former Bundesliga coach Domenico Tedesco is the new Belgian national football team coach. As the Belgian association announced on Wednesday, the 37-year-old has signed a contract that includes the 2024 European Championships in Germany.

Tedesco succeeds the Spaniard Roberto Martínez, who announced his retirement after the World Cup preliminary round. “It’s a great honor for me to be the new head coach of the Belgian national team,” said Tedesco, according to a statement from the association: “I’m really looking forward to the task and I’m extremely motivated. I had a very good feeling from the first conversation.”

An association task force chose Tedesco, who was released from DFB Cup winners RB Leipzig in September, as the ideal solution. The German-Italian had previously looked after Schalke 04 from 2017 to 2019.
