A dog attacked after a fire in the Fulda district. The three residents were able to leave the house almost unharmed. Shortly afterwards, the single-family home was engulfed in flames.

A dog warned a family of a fire and the residents were able to get to safety in time. As the East Hesse police headquarters announced, there was a fire in a single-family home in Elters (district) early on Saturday morning Fulda). “According to current knowledge, the 59-year-old homeowner and his 67-year-old wife were woken up by the dog’s barking during the night,” the police report said.

The fire broke out in the kitchen in the basement. According to the police, when the fire brigade arrived, the fire had already spread through the outer facade to the roof structure, so that the single-family home was fully engulfed in flames. The residents were able to leave the house independently.

The homeowner suffered minor smoke inhalation. His wife and a 31-year-old roommate were uninjured. The residents were able to temporarily stay with neighbors.

The material damage is estimated at around 250,000 euros. It was still unclear on Saturday how the fire could have started, but the criminal police in Fulda are investigating. The scene of the fire was temporarily confiscated.
