Documentary about “ABBA” stalker on Prime: “I miss her infinitely” – culture

An eight-year-old boy from the Dutch countryside, whose only friend is a sea turtle, watches the 1974 Grand Prix with his parents. Suddenly this blond, blue-eyed woman appears on screen singing with three other musicians from a metaphorical place called Waterloo: “I was defeated, you won the war.” The boy does not understand English, but it still happened to him: Gert van der Graaf falls in love with her ABBA-singer Agnetha Fältskog and has never let go of this obsession since. Today he is in his late 50s, works as a warehouse worker, apparently rarely washes his hair and, speaking to a therapist, says: “She told me at the time that she was glad I never stopped looking for her.” And then with a calm that seems almost proud: “I will continue to never stop doing it.”
