The artist Doc Gyneco was sentenced this Tuesday in Paris to five months suspended imprisonment and a 2,000 euros fine for domestic violence, after having given four violent slaps and insulted his wife in March, facts he has recognized. This sentence is slightly below the requisitions of the prosecution, which had requested at the end of the morning six months suspended sentence.

The criminal court combined these five months of imprisonment with a three-year probationary period, during which the artist will have to respect several obligations: in particular those of care and of following a training course on domestic violence, as well as the prohibitions of appear at his wife’s home and get in touch with her.

The police had been alerted by a passerby

The court pronounced the provisional execution of these measures, that is to say their immediate entry into force. Doc Gyneco was also fined 2,000 euros, a penalty that had not been requested by the prosecution.

At the hearing, the 47-year-old artist, Bruno Beausire (his real name), admitted having given four violent slaps and insulted his wife and companion for 25 years, with whom he had three children, on March 10 at their home Parisian. The police had been alerted by a passerby who heard screams through the open window.

The victim presented with edema in the left eye and several bruises on the face. Taken to hospital, she received a total of 19 days of ITT, including 14 days for psychological distress.

Placed in police custody, Doc Gyneco had, in evolving declarations, spoken of a “stroke of blood”, a “first in 25 years” of cohabitation. Confronted with the testimonies of his wife and their two daughters who they evoked “usual violence”, as well as a “hold” of the father of the family on his wife, Doc Gyneco had ended up recognizing older violence.

The artist reconsidered his statements

But facing the court, only seized of the violence of March 10, he returned Tuesday to his last statements: “It was only once. (…) It was an isolated act, Mr. President, ”assured Doc Gyneco at the helm, drawn features and graying curly hair, after asking“ forgiveness ”from his wife, who has started divorce proceedings.

Civil party but absent at the hearing, she explained in a letter read by the president that she still had a hematoma on her face, also evoking her “fear” of her husband and her inability to be near him. . She made no claim for damages.

Doc Gyneco is notably the author of First consultation, first solo album released in April 1996 and sold over a million copies. This disc was elected, in 2012, best French rap album by the magazine les Inrocks. The artist has since hit the headlines for troubles with the tax department, his controversial participation in reality shows and his sprawling private life in newspapers, including his affair with writer Christine Angot.
