Do antibiotics reduce the effect of vaccinations in young children? – Health

According to a study involving 560 children, taking antibiotics in the first few months of life could lead to reduced immunization protection. This is reported by a research group from Rochester University led by physician Michael Pichichero in the journal pediatrics. Although a causal connection only seems plausible so far, it has not yet been proven by further studies. Nevertheless, experts emphasize that this is a clear reminder to be very cautious about prescribing antibiotics, especially for infants and small children.
