dm foregoes “climate neutral” economy

Karlsruhe – In the legal dispute with the German Environmental Aid (DUH) over the term “climate neutral”, the drugstore chain dm is now foregoing an appeal. The company reached a corresponding agreement with the DUH on Monday, announced dm. The Karlsruhe-based company has finally accepted that the “fight to maintain a false climate neutrality promise is hopeless,” said DUH Federal Managing Director Jürgen Resch. However, dm says it wants to stick to the appeal for the word “environmentally neutral”. At the end of July, the Karlsruhe regional court decided, in response to a lawsuit from the DUH, that dm was no longer allowed to advertise its own brands using the terms “climate-neutral” and “environmentally neutral”. This would raise expectations among consumers that do not correspond to reality, the judges explained their ruling at the time. The drugstore chain then initially filed an appeal.
