DIW study: The poor are a little less poor – economy

Wealth in Germany is unequally distributed; this has long been known. While sports cars, household help and a holiday home by the sea are practically the basic equipment for some top wealthy people, people with low incomes often live in rent and regularly overdraw their accounts because they lack reserves. Put in numbers, this means: The poorest 50 percent of people own only two percent of the wealth, while the richest ten percent own almost two thirds.
