Customers of the DKB may notice double debits from the current account. The bank speaks of a technical defect and wants to fix the problem quickly. Customers do not have to take action themselves.

Incorrect postings have occurred in checking accounts at Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB). “Incorrect bookings may currently be displayed in your checking account,” says the direct bank’s online banking portal. A company spokesman cited a technical defect as the reason.

“Our specialists are already taking care of a solution,” said a DKB spokesman. It is important that affected customers do not have to do anything. “The bookings are automatically canceled and charged back.”

Duplicate bookings from early October 2022

According to the information, it is not yet clear how many customers are affected. The error analysis is still ongoing. These are bookings from the beginning of October 2022 that were incorrectly re-executed. In connection with this, some of the bank’s customers also slipped into the red. The problem started on Thursday evening. The bank apologized and asked for patience.

The direct bank based in Berlin has over 5000 employees and more than five million private and business customers. In terms of the number of customers, it is the second largest direct bank in Germany after ING-DiBa. In the first half of 2022, the group achieved a profit before taxes of EUR 123.0 million.
