District of Munich surveys caring relatives – District of Munich

The district office wants to know what challenges people face who look after family members.

The district of Munich wants to take better care of the needs of caring relatives and has started a survey for this purpose. According to the district office, family members play a decisive role in caring for people in need of care; especially when it comes to offering people the best possible living environment and supporting their desire to remain in their own four walls or in the family environment for as long as possible. In order to better understand the situation of the caring relatives, since March 1st the Senior Citizens Advice Specialists in the district office, in cooperation with the working group for social planning and geriatric research, have been asking how these people are doing, what help they need and how the care affects their everyday life. Anyone who cares for relatives in the district and provides unpaid support for at least four hours a week can take part in the survey. Family members can take part as well as friends or acquaintances who take care of other people. “Anyone who has cared for or supported a relative, a friend or a good acquaintance knows how fulfilling it can be to accompany people in difficult situations, often to the point of death, but also what a burden and responsibility it is caregiving relatives,” says District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU). And it is precisely these people that the district of Munich must and wants to support better, according to the district administrator, it is about getting a meaningful picture of what is missing and what is needed. Participation in the survey is voluntary and anonymous www.umfrageonline.com/s/pflegendeangehoerigelkmuenchen.
