District of Munich plans energy cost aid fund – District of Munich

The district of Munich is planning to convert the existing Corona emergency aid fund into an aid fund for people who are particularly affected by the increased energy costs. According to the Munich district office, the money from this donation pot is primarily intended to help people quickly and unbureaucratically who are experiencing financial difficulties due to the energy crisis. The social committee of the district council will discuss the rededication at its meeting on Monday, November 14th.

The Corona Aid Fund was set up in 2021, at a time when many people got into trouble. The funds were distributed via welfare organizations in the district of Munich, usually one-off payments of less than 500 euros. A total of just over 53,000 euros in donations have been collected so far, and 49,500 euros went to the charities, which had to examine and document every case. This money could be used to defer rent arrears, buy dentures, buy materials for homeschooling or just groceries.

In addition to the reallocation of the existing aid fund, the social committee will also discuss whether this should be transferred to a foundation that has yet to be established in the long term.
