District of Munich – Kreissparkasse closes more ATMs – District of Munich

After the bomb attacks on ATMs in Unterhaching and Weßling, the Kreissparkasse München Starnberg Ebersberg closed six more self-service locations. In order to prevent attacks, the self-service branches with ATMs at the TU in Garching, in Hochbrück, in Neukeferloh (Saarlandstraße), Hohenbrunn, Putzbrunn and Oberhaching, which are classified as particularly at risk due to structural or local conditions, would be shut down with immediate effect, the Sparkasse said on Tuesday with From now on, a night security service will be on duty at other locations.

At the beginning of December, as a precautionary measure, the district savings bank temporarily closed the ATMs at the locations in Gilching (Dornierstrasse), Inning and Percha to prevent explosive attacks. Previously, within a few weeks, the bank’s ATMs had been blown up at three locations. The previously fleeing perpetrators are currently targeting credit institutions throughout Bavaria as part of an unprecedented series of bomb attacks.

Locations should reopen in January with a new security concept

According to the Kreissparkasse, a reopening of all closed locations is planned in principle in the course of January. By then, protective systems to deter possible perpetrators should be installed. These include video surveillance systems and money coloring systems, which mark banknotes in color in the event of an attack or other violent access. The two blown up self-service branches in Weßling and Unterhaching on Grünwalder Weg are also to be repaired in the coming year. According to a spokeswoman for the Sparkasse, no statement can be made when exactly this is to happen due to uncertain delivery dates for the required components. A decision on the future of the site in Anzing in the Ebersberg district, which was only blown up at the end of November, has not yet been made.

The Kreissparkasse asks customers affected by the temporary closures to switch to other locations. Notices provided information about the nearest options. The savings bank promises that customers who withdraw money from other local credit institutions will be reimbursed for the time being without any red tape.
