District of Munich – Junge Union demands 365-euro ticket – District of Munich

The Junge Union München-Land is committed to a 365-euro ticket for local public transport, as is also demanded by Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder. At the same time, the CSU youth organization rejects demands for completely free public transport for everyone – as recently brought up by the Jusos in the Munich district. Such a demand can be well advertised during the election campaign, says Alexander Löhrer, member of the district executive committee of the Junge Union (JU) and representative for the Würmtal, but free travel by bus, train and tram for everyone is not financially viable in the medium term.

Denser beat during the day as well as at night

However, the Junge Union is committed to improving public transport and also refers to the great demand that the nine-euro ticket has triggered. According to a statement by the party’s junior staff, this shows that people use cheaper public transport. “People are willing to pay money for local public transport – it can certainly cost something,” explains JU member Löhrer. The key to the success of public transport lies above all in more frequent frequencies both during the day and – especially for younger people – at night. “You have to get from A to B faster,” says Löhrer, who also urges improvements for the Würmtal, which he believes is “cut off” from public transport; the region around Gräfelfing, Neuried and Planegg urgently needs “inexpensive public transport that can be reasonably financed”. According to the 19-year-old, the 365-euro ticket, which is already offered to trainees, would be attractive to everyone and could make an important contribution to the mobility revolution.
