District of Munich – folk music officer advertises for young people – district of Munich

Those who have taken up the cause of the preservation and care of their native cultural assets cannot complain about a lack of work because of the abundance of cultural assets worthy of protection. On Tuesday, November 22, at 4 p.m., the home caretakers from the district and municipalities will meet in the Taufkirchen Culture and Congress Center for a public professional exchange. Also present is district folk music curator Hubert Zellner from Sauerlach, who, like colleagues from other areas of home care, will present himself and his tasks in a four-minute film.

His well-groomed mustache alone reveals that he spends less in his free time AC/DC rather than listening to – and making – traditional Bavarian music. The 53-year-old Argeter played first fiddle as head of the Sauerlach building authority for 20 years before moving to Otterfing in the same position last year. When it comes to folk music, he prefers to play the dulcimer and guitar, because his thing is parlor music, which he has loved since he was a small child, for example when his father played the zither at home in Arget. At the age of nine he got his first dulcimer, at 14 he was part of a parlor music group, today he performs regularly with his instrumental quintet “Niederhamer Saitenklang”.

So Hubert Zellner stayed the course, and he would like that to be the case for the current generation of folk musicians. There is a big difference between singing and playing an instrument, says the married father of two. For everything that has to do with instruments, such as the Styrian, there are young people. On the other hand, it is difficult to find singers, perhaps following the example of the “Früahdeandl” from Brunnthal, who are present on TV and radio. For this reason he will try harder to advertise it, for example the introduction of youth regulars’ tables is planned, based on the folk music regulars’ tables, to which he regularly invites people to the Brunnthal country inn, from now on if possible six times a year.

Folk music is still very important, especially in the district of Munich, but also in the state capital, where there are very good folk music groups. Maybe soon with enough singers.
