District of Ebersberg: Unemployment increases slightly – Ebersberg

The number of unemployed in the districts of Dachau, Ebersberg, Erding and Freising rose slightly in August. In the area of the entire employment agency, the unemployment rate rose by 0.2 percentage points to a current level of 2.4 percent. In Ebersberg, the situation is even a bit better: although the increase here is also 0.2 percentage points, the rate is still only 2.2 percent, just like in August 2021.

The rise in numbers is partly due to increases in the number of unemployed Ukrainian refugees. These have been looked after by the job centers since June 2022 and are therefore now included in the labor market statistics. However, there would have been an increase in unemployment even without this development: “We are observing an effect that is typical for the season,” explains Nikolaus Windisch, head of the Freising Employment Agency. “On the one hand, many HR departments tend to hold back on hiring during the holiday season, decisions are postponed to September. On the other hand, more and more young people who have not found a seamless connection to an employment relationship after completing their school or vocational training are registering as unemployed in August. ” Accordingly, the unemployment rate for under-25s rose significantly by 0.8 percentage points to 2.8 percent in August 2022. Here, too, the situation looks more favorable if you only look at the district of Ebersberg: Here the rate has climbed from 1.5 percent to currently 1.8 percent. “Experience has shown that the number of unemployed young people falls again in autumn when new training and employment contracts begin,” says Nikolaus Windisch.

High demand for personnel in the region

Jobseekers also have good chances on the region’s labor market, because the demand for personnel has continued to rise: In August, companies reported 1,158 new jobs to be filled in the four districts, which is 157 more than in the previous month. There were a total of 6409 job offers in the job pool of the Employment Agency. In the comparative period of 15 years, this is the highest level of registered jobs in the agency district. The occupational segment transport, logistics, protection and security recently recorded the greatest need for personnel. A total of 1494 positions were vacant here in August. The manufacturing industry was looking for employees for 1431 jobs. In the summer month, 1079 job vacancies were reported in the commercial services, trade, sales and tourism sector.
