Now it’s official: The district of Ebersberg and the community of Poing can call themselves “bicycle-friendly communities”. The titles were awarded on Thursday at an online event organized by the working group for bicycle-friendly municipalities in Bavaria and the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Building and Transport. A total of 14 cities and municipalities and the district of Ebersberg were awarded. The Working Group for Cycle-Friendly Municipalities in Bavaria is a network of Bavarian municipalities that aim to promote cycling. The award for Poing and the district was preceded by a long period of preparation, during which the two municipalities improved their – literally – framework conditions for cyclists. The last test was a so-called main tour – in the picture in Ebersberg in September – during which the jury members got an idea of the situation themselves.
