A telegram group of protesters called on them to march past the houses of politicians in the Dachau district. It doesn’t come to that, but the incident shows that hatred has long since spilled from the internet onto the streets.

Hatred of local politicians is not an entirely new phenomenon, not even in the Dachau district. Long before the start of the pandemic, public officials were increasingly exposed to hostilities, especially online – even if, according to Wilfried Schober, press spokesman for the Bavarian Municipal Council, there have never been physical attacks, at least in Bavaria.
