An 18-year-old pedestrian was hit by a tram in Berg am Laim late Wednesday afternoon and was seriously injured. According to the police, he crossed Berg-am-Laim-Strasse around 4 p.m. at an unsecured crossing without – apparently distracted by looking at his mobile phone – paying attention to road or tram traffic.
Despite an immediate emergency stop, the driver was unable to avoid the collision. The 18-year-old was hospitalized with polytrauma, various fractures and a ruptured spleen. Tram traffic had to be diverted.
