Dispute over Musk’s “peace plan”: “No Ukrainian will buy your Tesla shit”

Tesla boss Musk has provoked violent reactions with his ideas for an end to the war in Ukraine. The Ukrainian President Selenskyj countered on Twitter – once again Ambassador Melnyk found clear words.

Entrepreneur and high-tech billionaire Elon Musk has made no friends there with his proposal for a peace plan for Ukraine. Completely surprisingly, yesterday he presented a four-point plan which, among other things, provides for another vote to be held in the areas annexed by Russia – this time under UN supervision. Then a vote could be taken on whether Russia should withdraw or not.

In addition, the boss of the electrical manufacturer Tesla suggested that the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea should finally be added to Russia. Ukraine must also guarantee Crimea’s water supply and remain neutral. He called on his 107 million followers on Twitter to vote yes or no on his plan.

Melnyk rumbles on Twitter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also countered with a poll on Twitter. Which Elon Musk do you prefer, he asked there. One that supports Ukraine or one that supports Russia. The outgoing Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk became abusive on Twitter. “Now no Ukrainian will ever buy your fucking Tesla shit. So good luck.”

Well-known Ukrainian journalist Portnikov accused Musk of not understanding Russia’s reasons for the war. “If you look at Musk’s proposals, you might get the impression that Putin attacked Ukraine just to occupy a few of its regions or to supply Crimea with water. But in fact, all of these are consequences, not causes,” according to Portnikov.

“There is only one reason for this attack: the occupation of the entire Ukrainian state and the annexation of its territories by the Russian Federation. This is what Putin is fighting for solution, he shows that he does not understand reality.”

Musk justifies plan

Musk later commented on his plan, saying his scenario was likely to be the ultimate outcome of the war. The only question he asked himself was how many people would have to die first. There would also be a risk of nuclear war.

The Kremlin welcomed Musk’s concerns, but rejected new referendums. “The residents have already expressed their opinion. And nothing else can apply here,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, according to the state agency Ria Novosti.
