Dispute over heating amendment: Christian Lindner spoils Olaf Scholz’ trip to Portugal

Olaf Scholz and his government pass a law on building heating, but the finance minister publicly calls on parliament to make changes. In order to cover up the new coalition conflict, the chancellor puts an SPD ancestor in position.

Oh no, the grim man with the pipe wouldn’t have liked that at all. Of course, it is an honor when the incumbent Federal Chancellor speaks of one’s own name. But the fact that Olaf Scholz is doing this to justify the indiscipline of an FDP chairman and finance minister is something that Peter Struck, who died in 2012, would very likely have grumbled about when he was alive. Or even with a “He can do me,” as was his habit on occasion, especially when it came to political competition.
