Marvel has revealed the start date of the new series “Echo” – and presented a first trailer. The bloody clip shocks with a lot of violence.

After the end of the currently running second season of “Loki” and the upcoming cinema hit “The Marvels” with Oscar winner Brie Larson (34) in the leading role, the “Hawkeye” spin-off “Echo” is the next live action project from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the starting blocks. Marvel Studios now also has an upcoming superhero series with indigenous actress Alaqua Cox (26) as the superhero Echo released a first, extremely bloody trailer. The Maus company also announced that “Echo” will be released on Disney+ in Germany on January 10th.

“Echo” will be the bloodiest Marvel series to date

The approximately two-minute preview video offers a foretaste of the upcoming production. The clip surprises with extremely brutal scenes such as a headshot that can be seen directly in the picture. In the USA, “Echo” will consequently also receive a so-called “TV-MA” rating as an age rating, which corresponds to an R rating for cinema films. The US rating means the series may be unsuitable for those under 17 years of age.

With the new show, Marvel Studios probably wants to build on the success of the Netflix-Marvel series of the past such as “Marvel’s Daredevil” (2015-2018) or “Marvel’s The Punisher” (2017-2019). Director Sydney Freeland explained according to The Hollywood Reporter in advance about “Echo”: “The people in our series – they bleed. They die. They are killed and there are real-world consequences.”

Also seen in the trailer is leading actress Cox, whose character communicates using sign language. Like her character, Cox is deaf. Also visible in the preview is “Marvel’s Daredevil” and “Hawkeye” returnee Vincent D’Onofrio (64), who once again embodies crime boss Kingpin. “Daredevil” Charlie Cox (40), who already celebrated his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021) and “She-Hulk: The Lawyer” (2022), will also appear in “Echo” appear.

Disney+ emulates Netflix

In addition to the more bloody, adult focus, “Echo” also offers a second novelty for the Marvel series on Disney+: All five episodes of the miniseries will be released in one fell swoop. The streaming service Disney+, on which new episodes of Marvel shows usually appear weekly, is emulating its major competitor Netflix. It is currently unclear whether this release strategy will be maintained for future Marvel series.
