How a cook had a clever idea – and so invented Cordon Bleu
Today we eat many dishes such as pizza, cordon bleu or cheese spaetzle with a certain degree of naturalness. There are also exciting stories about how they were created around these specialties.
Panzanella
There are several stories about the invention of this Italian classic. Some say it was created out of necessity by fishermen because they didn’t have that much space to prepare a decent hearty meal. The others say that it is a dish from the poor people’s kitchen, through which stale bread could be used. Whichever story is true, the fact is that panzanella is one of the most famous Italian salads. It consists of stale bread, red onions and tomatoes. Often fresh cucumber, basil, vinegar and oil are added.
