Discover the city with Le jeu des Gones

City of Lights, capital of the Gauls or of Gastronomy, Lyon is overflowing with nicknames paying homage to the richness of its heritage. But do we know this city so well? It is to answer this question that Julie Troff-Poulard designed The Game of Goneswhose release is expected before the Christmas holidays.

Just like the traditional game of 7 families, the objective is simple: bring together at least six emblematic districts of Lyon, including those of Vieux-Lyon, Monplaisir and Vaise. When the mission is complete, yell “BISTANCLAK!” », onomatopoeia of the looms used by the Canuts. And the game is won.

“Heritage is connoted as too backward-looking, boring. The objective is to bring people to discover this heritage in a fun and educational way”, explains Julie, a 34-year-old mother, researcher in an urban planning agency but also a temporary teacher at the University of Lyon-2 in Master in History of Art and Heritage.

The end of clichés

The idea came to him in 2020. “I looked for ways to have a more fun and interactive class. I came up with game ideas,” she explains. She then took advantage of the confinement to involve her students and refine her project. One of the objectives: to put an end to clichés and present elements that are not the best known to the general public. Here, we are not talking about the Basilica of Fourvière, but about the Chapel of the Virgin located right next to it. “This allows us to bring back a territorial anchor on what surrounds us, she continues. And it will certainly interest passing tourists. »

But the game is also aimed at children. “Heritage speaks to them in a certain way since it is included in school curricula”, continues Julie, who has sought to differentiate herself. “For example, in the game, we will talk about inventions like the license plate. Children see them everywhere but they don’t know that they were created for the first time in Lyon (in 1981 at the Parc de la Tête d’Or then open to motorists)”.

In order to speed up the release of her game which she hopes to market for December at the price of 15 euros, Julie has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise 7,000 euros.
