Autumn in red and black
Does the song “En rouge et noir” mean something to you? Is it a return to the 1980s or simply the desire to warm up our interiors: IKEA takes the words literally. Nytillverkad: the return (of the return) of the 70s
You can’t have missed it: IKEA is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. For the occasion, the brand is looking at its most iconic creations to offer reissues in more current materials and colors. This fall, we discover the second part of the Nytillverkad collection, which is inspired by the colorful spirit of the late 70s and early 80s.
After a first part focused on sky blue and summer colors, this second part stands out for a clear dominance of the color orange.
Created in 1983 by Niels Gammelgaard, the JÄRPEN armchair is one of the most sought-after IKEA creations on the second-hand market. We therefore hasten to grab its reissue on the fly. Renamed SKÅLBODA, this lounge chair is available in black or orange, and it just needs to be accessorized with a throw and pretty cushions to transform into a very chill cocoon!
A very Nordic cocooning touch
Although always ahead of trends, IKEA also remains faithful to its Scandinavian DNA. Unsurprisingly, the fall winter catalog is full of pieces designed to transform the house into a soft and bright cocoon. In terms of furniture, we therefore find the light wood species dear to the brand.
As for the living room, we focus on light neutrals, favoring white or beige armchairs and sofas. We love HYLTARP, the small sofa of the moment. With its classic design and clean lines, it fits almost any interior. And thanks to its sober color, it is easy to combine with a wise or very colorful rug, and to dress with a throw and a few cushions, depending on the inspiration of the moment.
As for textiles, IKEA is banking on the combination of blue and yellow this season to brighten up the home. In the bedroom, we love the ROSENTIBAST bed set with its liberty floral pattern.
In addition to its keen sense of design, IKEA remains the reference address for storage. This season, the brand is focusing on the “sustainable storage” option with VÄXTHUS, its collection of hand-woven rattan baskets. These come in a nice variety of designs and formats.
