After Emile and Lina, a new disappearance case begins to fascinate the French public. However, unlike the two cases previously cited, this one does not take place in France. Indeed, it was in Portugal, and more precisely on the island of Madeira, that it all began on March 16, 2024. That day, Véronique and Laurent Blond vanished without a trace.
This couple of bakers from Beaumont-de-Lomagne (Tarn-et-Garonne), went there on vacation. Respectively aged 56 and 57, they had gone hiking on the day of their disappearance. Present alongside them on the island of Madeira, Johanna Blond alerted the French authorities when she noticed that her parents were no longer answering the phone.
Disappearance of Véronique and Laurent Blond: their home in Tarn-et-Garonne searched
The Quai d’Orsay then notified the Montauban public prosecutor on March 20, 2024. The Montauban public prosecutor’s office finally announced the opening of an investigation into a worrying disappearance. Following this, the gendarmes of Beaumont-de-Lomagne and Castelsarrasin searched the home of Véronique and Laurent Blond. However, this famous search did not contribute any element to the investigation.
According to information revealed by The Dispatch, Johanna Blond and her aunt were both interviewed by the investigators responsible for solving the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Véronique and Laurent Blond. The 27-year-old young woman explained that her parents left the hotel where they were staying in Madeira on March 16, 2024 around 2:30 p.m.
Portuguese authorities have been searching for the couple for 10 days
Johanna Blond’s parents told her they were going to walk in Sao Vicente. A small village located by the ocean on the heights of the island of Madeira. It was not a long hike, given that Véronique and Laurent Blond only left with two bottles of water. Their daughter did not accompany them that day because she preferred to stay in her room to rest.
Mobilized in the investigation into the disappearance of Véronique and Laurent Blond, the Portuguese authorities have been looking for them for 10 days now. To do this, they have deployed significant resources, both land and sea. Having limited themselves to a radius of 15 km, the couple’s cell phone has not yet been able to locate them.
